Hot Air Ballooning is romance, giving you a tranquil and majestic flight…What a wonderful place for that special proposal you are thinking of. Hot air balloon flights are the ultimate adventure, touched with serenity and romance. A mystical flight that unfolds over the Canterbury Plains not far from Christchurch.

Having met at dawn, you will be driven in our 4-wheel drive vehicles to a suitable launch site chosen by one of our very experienced New Zealand licensed pilots.

Following a detailed flight briefing, you will then be invited to assist the pilot and crew to prepare the balloon for flight. Once aboard the wicker basket, your magical flight begins. The launch is so gentle you will hardly realise you have left the ground. The peace and gentleness of ballooning will surprise you and the views are unsurpassable.

As you drift along with the breeze, the scenery slowly changes, this could be the chance for that wonderful moment. After approximately an hour in the air, it is time to land.

The successful completion of the flight is celebrated with a champagne-styled buffet breakfast, as a picnic in the field. You will also receive a flight certificate.

On a fine day views of the entire Canterbury Plains (a full 300km panorama) include pristine Mt Cook (Aoraki) and National Park mountains. Marvellous views abound of the Rakaia River, one of the world's finest braided river systems

We recommend you wear comfortable casual clothes, sturdy shoes and a hat. Don’t forget your camera

If you are staying in conveniently located accommodation without transport, we can arrange to pick you up prior to the flight.

Should the weather not be suitable for a city flight, you will be taken out to the neighbouring countryside of Burnham, Dunsandel, Darfield, Oxford, Cust or Rangiora, depending on the airflow of the day. p>********************************************************************************

Q. How many people can fit on the balloon?
A. 12-13 people.

Q. What time does the flight depart?
A. This depends on the time of year, ranging from 7am in summer months to 7:30am for other months.

Q. Do you offer transport?
A. If you need transport please make us aware at time of booking and we can organise this for you.

Q. Where do we meet for the pick up?
A. Methven Travel by the BNZ building in Methven centre.

Q. Will she have any idea this is a proposal?
A. Definately not, you can make the pilot aware and he can help you come up with some amazing proposal options.

Q. Can we bring along our own Champagne to celebrate?
A. Yes definately.

Q. Can we purchase a breakfast option?
A. A picnic buffet breakfast with a waiter is included in this proposal.

Q. What should we wear?
A. Please wear something comfortable and although the weather is not much different from on the ground you may want to bring along something to wear for the picnic.

Q. Do we have to leave at this time?
A. As this package is weather dependant we do prefer to launch in the morning hours as it provides the most enjoyable atmosphere.

Q. Can we hire this balloon exclusively?
